I'm really looking forward to this new film from the director of After Life.
Cast includes: Arata, Korean actress Bae Doo-na (as the titular doll), Joe
Odagiri and Itsuji Itao (who should be familiar to Toshiaki Toyoda fans).

The basic plot should be obvious from the trailer (Air Doll comes to life),
and the film looks like a sweeter version of Lars And The Real Girl.

looks interesting in a scary sort of way

now that i know the doll is played by the girl in Mr Vengeance i want to see it a lot more. anyone know of a dvd release?

I don't think it's even been released in Japanese cinemas yet, so a dvd release
is a way off yet I'd say.

Air Doll will be released on DVD in Japan on 26 March 2010, in standard and limited editions. Both editions include English subtitles, limited edition includes a bonus disc featuring making-of, 8-page liner notes and a 16-page photo book.

Air Doll is a very touching movie, maybe surprisingly so if you've never seen a Koreeda film. Easily one of last year's best Japanese films.
