Reviewing Vacancy at Snowblood Apple

Hi folks

Mandi and I have been discussing our backlog again, and the fact that a significant proportion of them are Takashi Miike movies.

So, what we're looking for is a reviewer with a particular interest in Miike, who would be able to write reviews of Miike movies (which we would supply to you). You have to be reliable, have an excellent grasp of English (punctuation, grammar and spelling) and be 100% cool about your work being edited or even completely reworked to fit the Snowblood Apple house style. The ability to take screen captures would be a welcome bonus.

We are a self-financed site and the only recompense for your work would be the copy of the movie, which you get to keep.

When the backlog of Miike movies is complete, and if we're happy with your work, there's a good chance that we'd take you on as a reviewer of non-Miike movies.

I can't get my hands on too many Miike films, but I can a few. I have just recently seen Gozu, and I can get my hands on his not very well known film Bird People of China, but I might have to wait. Sabu is also available, and MAYBE I could grab Rainy Dog as well.

If you read what it says above, it does say quite clearly that we would provide copies of movies for review. Thanks for the offer: just to clarify here, it might be an idea for anyone who's interested in the position to send us a short (doesn't have to be full length) audition review, in the Snowblood Apple format (ratings not necessary as I do those).

I remember Bug-Eyed Earl offered to do an audition review some while back, but we didn't have a vacancy at that stage, and this one is a very specific one (initially speaking, at any rate).

We've had quite a few offers already: all respondants will receive a reply, and be taken into consideration

Ah, I see. So you would give me a copy of the film to review? That makes sense. But really I could probably find a copy of the film you wanted to review.

I'm interested in applying. As I said when I closed down Eigakai, I'd be happy to take a reviewing post elsewhere, I just lacked the ability and fundage to run one on my own. I believe you've already seen examples of my work before. The most recent being http://geocities.com/eigakai/testrevkids.html but I think Geocities might have wiped it already. I probably have a cached version though. Throw me a PM if you need me to send it to you.

Stuff and nonsense on the ability-lacking front, I don't want to hear that rubbish

As for fundage, though, yeah, that tends to be our major problem too. We get by, just, but it really has literally put us out of pocket in the thousands rather than the hundreds, just to have what it takes to make it and keep it going...

It was only for Tetsuo II, though, and I'm a little strapped fr cash. I don;t have the meansto see these Miike movies. Sorry.

Anyway, it was only a thought on my part as you had talked of doing 'audition reviews' before. We've had lots of applicants and in fact we have already appointed a new reviewer - although we may still be looking for others.

So, it is with great pleasure that I can now announce that the latest reviewer to join the Snowblood Apple Team is none other than your friend and mine, Rasen.



As most of you will probably know, Rasen owned and ran his J-review site Eigakai for years, so he has a great track record, ability and experience, and we're honoured to have him on board.

Thanks to everyone who applied: we may still be looking for another reviewer, we're still talking about that, so all applications which come in are still being considered.

I always have trouble accepting something that seems too good to be true, sorry. That and I'd probably want to send them back after I was done, just out of guilt at getting them for free.
