Background: Marriah was shipped to the Harvey Institute by her parents, who were sick of her stealing money, jewellery and other valuables from them. Her therapist discovered that she was a kleptomaniac and a pathological liar, and as she was eventually caught by the police after stealing her parents' car and driving it underage, she was sent to the Institute for corrective studies.
